This is a well researched site - a dirty job, but somebody had to do it! The author has reviewed an extensive list of pubs in Dublin city and county. He explains his rating system and the Irish licensing laws. Pubs are rated under various headings which can be summed up as buzz, beer, scoring and toilets.

Yes, this site has a male perspective on things, but it will interest and amuse all. Irish women in particular might be interested in reading the author's impression of Irish women. This is a well designed, good humoured site which you will enjoy.

Break for the Border is a good example of a crap place. Another I am thinking of at the moment is Pravda. It couldn't possibly be more pretentious! Besides, it's supposed to be Eastern European but it's not--I should know, being Czech myself.

Places I rate high are, for instance, Dec Gallaghers on Dominick Street and the Welcome Inn on Parnell Street. But I'm sure it's a question of personal taste.
