O'Dwyer Brothers

These two men (Des and Liam) have changed the face of Dublin's pub scene in the past five years or so. They've also made a serious amount of money out of it. Currently they have developed the following pubs/clubs:

Break for the Border
Sinnott's
O'Dwyer's of Mount Street
Dowun Under (formerly Major Tom's)
Zanzibar
Cafe en Seine (closed for refurbishment)
Coyote Lounge, D'Olier Street
The George (one of Dublin's few gay bars)
Bob's (formerly Bad Bob's in Temple Bar)
Savannah, the Bar of the Rathmines Capital Hotel in Rathmines

And their latest, Fireworks which opened in July 2000.

All of these are now owned by the Capital Bars plc (formerly Break for the Border Group plc) of which the O'Dwyer Brothers are major shareholders.

Their pubs are generally very well run operations, clean, safe and most importantly, lively places to go. My only gripe is the prices they charge for drink and that the beer they serve varies in terms of quality - though they have told me that it is the brewers (Guinness) who maintain the beer systems.

Apart from that, they've produced some great pubs, the newest of which is Fireworks, which is a hot spot and is rumoured to have cost around a million pounds and more to develop.
